Owning a geared bike one of the main things you worry about is cars, there are that many dickheads on the road its not funny – and I’ve had many close calls.
However when riding a fixed gear or single speed, you quite often find yourself in situations where you’re sharing paved surfaces with pedestrians. Now there are a lot of pedestrians out there that aren’t particularly bright – and these ones need a wake up call when you’re thundering up behind them.
Enter the humble bicycle bell. Flicking the bell is a time honoured way to ensure the people in front of you get out of the way. Unfortunately most of them look repulsive, and way uncool. So imagine my giddy excitement when I happened across the Knog Oi bike bell
Simply put, this thing rocks. Its the best looking bike bell I’ve ever seen and it sounds wicked. I can’t wait to get my hands on one. This is a kickstarter project which is due for delivery in the next few months. One thing’s for sure, we’re going to be seeing these on hipster bikes everywhere.
The bell is available in a bunch of different colours, including brass, aluminium, copper, and titanium. I recon the brass finish personally looks awesome.
The sound the bell makes is not an accident. The team at Knog did extensive research to find the particular materials, and the parameters of that material – to give the perfect “ding”.
At only $31AUD including shipping, this has to be one of the bargain buys of the year. Sure you can pick up a cheap bell for a few bucks in any old store, but they all look rubbish, and if you’re riding an awesome steed – you want to make sure you accessorise properly…..
